Perfectionist that I am, I tend to be very hard on myself for any situation that I, in retrospect, feel I could have handled better for some reason.

Due to the weariness that comes from extended trying circumstances, everyone has an occasional bad day emotionally when they feel discouraged, hopeless, unable to be strong for other people, lose their temper, etc. We make a difficult situation even harder if we then listen to negatives voices in our spirits which bring self-condemnation for not staying perfectly hopeful and strong every day of the trying circumstance, especially when we know we are doing our best to succeed.

Belligerence in the Midst of Hopelessness

Table of contents for The Best Hope is Not Seen

  1. Belligerence in the Midst of Hopelessness
  2. Enforcing Hope in Your Thought Life

Reading Level: Gratifying

A lack of change in trying circumstances over an extended length of time often creates a feeling of hopelessness.

I have recently talked to a couple of different loved ones who are going through situations that are creating severe emotional struggles and feelings of hopelessness. Various difficult situations in each person’s life have gone on unchanged for so long that there is no visible sign of hope, no discernable way out of their trying circumstances. We have talked in previous posts about the necessity of positive thinking and speaking in an attitude of faith over one’s life; this is especially beneficial when one speaks the promises of God over one’s life. Scripture speaks of holding fast to what you confess in faith “without wavering (Heb. 10:23).” (The meaning in the Greek of this verse is wonderful. I’ll do a follow-up post on it.) The popular philosophy of Law of Attraction also promotes speaking out the positive changes in your life in an unwavering manner until you see them come to reality.

It takes a level of belligerence to hold on to hope.

I recall hearing a study on the news some years ago on people who lived to be over 100 years old. The sole factor they had in common was not any particular health habits but a decision to Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »

Have a Healing Morning

April 26th, 2008

Reading Level: Leisurely

Most of us get in the typical morning rush. We wake up in such a rush to get in to the office that the word “morning” does not even create a pleasant mental picture.

I’ve often read that successful people are “morning people.” That is characteristically true for several reasons. Part of which is that most successful people do not do the typical morning rush scenario. They get up early enough to have alone time, unrushed, to meditate, think, and envision the day and their future goals. The unrushed morning actually brings healing to their lives. Why?

This type of “healing morning” develops more creative thinking, a sense of peace instead of life being out of one’s control, and allows for help and direction from a person greater than yourself, from the One who planned each day of your life before it ever existed in the physical realm (Ps. 139:15,16).

If you’ve never thought you could hear God’s voice in your spirit, a search of the term “voice” in Scripture shows numerous references to the “voice of the Lord.” More specifically, Jesus said that those who seek God know His voice and follow it (Jn. 10:27). Healing Illustrated Propels One’s Faith

April 25th, 2008

Reading Level: Gratifying

I want to preface this healing illustration by saying that its purpose is to encourage you to believe for what is possible through faith.

It in no way implies that I myself have special powers or abilities. Healing is a gift from God solely out of His loving kindness. The more one’s faith progresses, the more you are able to receive the gifts God desires to pour into your life as part of a loving relationship with Him.

At this particular time in my life, I was somewhat disillusioned with the level of visible activity of God in my life. I knew from the Scriptures that God desired to be actively involved in people’s lives as shown in the examples there; I also knew that it is expressed throughout Scripture that such involvement is God’s desire. I had studied the lives of various people of great faith from the past. After receiving a book on faith as a gift a few months prior to this healing, my spouse and I had made a renewed effort to study people who were effective in their faith and consistently saw the miraculous intervention of God in their lives. We were weary of a mundane faith. We determined in our spirits to apply whatever principles we could learn from those we were studying.

Our yard is filled with gardens containing over 30 rose bushes and a large variety of other plants. It was time for a major spring clean-up and pruning. Wanting to speed the process, I had pulled out an electric hedge trimmer to use on the plumbago and some other bushes. Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »

Forgetting What God Forgets

April 22nd, 2008

Reading Level: Leisurely

Guilt is a recurring struggle for many people. It is one of the most common search terms that people enter to read about on this site.

I’ve also read numerous blogs online by people who turned away from conventional religion due to spiritual leaders who erroneously bogged them down with a sense of guilt, making them feel that God is on a constant campaign to condemn their every thought, word, or action. In complete opposition to how many people were taught as children, guilt is a bondage that God our Father does NOT desire for us to live with. Scripture makes countless points to uphold this idea, but I’d like to focus today on one particular passage to get you started on releasing your guilt.

One of the leaders of the early church back in the first century A.D. was a man named Paul. He is considered by many to be the greatest apostle or leader of his day, having written a large part of what is now the New Testament. Yet, though some people tend to exalt him almost to deity, Paul was just a man with the exact same struggles and imperfections as any other human being. In Philippians 3, Paul talks about his past social status, education, and career–all the things about which a person could normally boast. Paul says he considers all this status nothing compared to actually knowing God. Next is the part important to one’s struggle with guilt. Paul admits something everyone overlooks, “Not that I have already been made perfect. But I am pressing on, striving to take hold of the prize for which I was taken hold of by Christ (Phil 3:12).”

This is key to freedom from guilt. Paul admits that he fails, but says he still presses forward to fulfill his God-given destiny.

He keeps pressing forward in life to fulfill the whole purpose for which God gave him life. In the releasing of your guilt, the first point then to apply to your own life is Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »

Emotional Healing Parallels Physical Healing

April 19th, 2008

Reading Level: Leisurely

Want physical health? Your emotional hurts may be as much as 85% of the root cause of your physical health problems!

There was an astounding statistic in an article on 12 Tips to Preventing Cancer from Dr. Mercola’s email newsletter which said, “Even the CDC [government’s Center for Disease Prevention and Control] states that 85 percent of disease is caused by emotions. It is likely that this factor may be more important than all the other physical ones listed here…”(1) Those of us who readily acknowledge our need for emotional healing will have little difficulty listing a broad range of physical conditions that are in need of healing as well.

To see physical healing, we must come to terms with the emotional hurts of the past and present.

Making Real Change to Thoughts, Feelings, or Behavior

April 18th, 2008

Reading Level: Leisurely

One of the people I have come across while networking my site is Dr. Dorothy Neddermeyer. I’ve enjoyed reading through the featured articles on her site, and have found her ideas to be extremely insightful and beneficial. With her permission, I’m quoting part of an article she wrote called, “Four Easy Steps to Change Your Thoughts-Feelings-Behavior.”

The purpose of the article is to take each of us beyond the point of saying, “Yes, that’s a good point. I need to change this aspect of my life,” to actually following through with the desired goals. Here are Dr. Dorothy’s 4 steps for success in changing your thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors: Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »

Speaking Health and Restoration into Existence

One of the most popular philosophies that I’ve come across on the web is the Law of Attraction.

Wikipedia says, “It takes the principal ‘Like Attracts Like’ and applies it to conscious desire. That is, a person’s thoughts, emotions, and beliefs cause a change in the physical world that attracts positive or negative experiences to them. You get what you think about; your thoughts determine your experience.” (1)

What’s interesting to me in the articles I’ve read is that multitudes of people have seen healing and success come to their lives, often after years of illness and poverty, by implementing the laws of faith apart from a faith in God and still seen it work.

Adherents of this philosophy believe that they are “intended” through the laws of the universe to be healthy and successful and they speak it over their lives until they see it happen. An email newsletter I read yesterday about it said that you cannot see success without speaking and believing daily that you are successful–the reasoning behind it being that your energy, body, spirit, and thoughts will only line up with what you are speaking and believing. For example, the necessary ideas, good energy, healing, opportunities, etc. won’t come to you or be recognized by you unless you FIRST speak them out daily and believe them.

These principles work because of the spiritual law of faith Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »

Diligent Faith Equals Diligent Rewards

April 9th, 2008

Reading Level: Very Impassioned

It is not uncommon for the resolution of our crises to be delayed due to some perspective of our own that keeps us from seeing the clear path or answer.

During a period in my life in which several major issues each came to a point of crisis at the same time, I had been spending a larger than normal amount of time in prayer and the Scriptures, seeking direction and relief from these situations. During my introspection, one point that came to me was an understanding of how I needed to improve on my belief of God’s positive response to my faith. I had always felt that I had a clear understanding of Hebrews 11:6, but I now realize that, up until the present time, I was approaching this verse along the lines that I did have faith that God would reward my seeking of Him, but only in as much as He would listen to and answer my prayers. However, it has become apparent that my prior perspective greatly short-changed my own well-being and spiritual progress. Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »

A Love That Isn’t Earned

April 3rd, 2008

Reading Level: Leisurely

The most basic desire of every heart is to be loved solely for your intrinsic value. Though it may be difficult to consistently find people who will fill this void, God’s love can fill that need for true, consistent love on a permanent basis.

People’s attitudes, actions, emotions, and commitment levels toward us vary greatly depending upon physical attributes, personal perspectives, illness, stress, hormone fluctuations, and on and on the list goes. It takes a person who is fairly self-disciplined and firmly committed to the relationship with us to demonstrate consistently positive responses in spite of outer stimuli or inner health variations. If one does not have such a person, or a good number of this type of people, in his or her inner circle, it creates the feeling of a great void in the need for love, often affecting one’s self-worth, peace, joy, and even job effectiveness. However, God’s love for us is based solely on our intrinsic value; in other words, because we are, we are of infinite value to Him. We do not need to feel pressure to earn His love, favor, kindness, or help. This realization can bring great relief from the guilt and lack of closeness that many people carry in their relationship with God Immerse Yourself in the Full Healing Contemplation Here »
